Langove’s Murder: RCD Highway Blocked; Shutter Down Strike Called

The Baloch Hal News

QUETTA: Road communication between Balochistan and Sindh was completely disrupted on Saturday evening after angry protesters blocked the RCD National Highway in protest against the killing of Mir Zaib Langove, the younger brother of senior National Party leader Mir Khalid Langove.

Ziab was killed by unknown persons who shot at his car when the former was on his way to Quetta. Three other people, including his security guard, were killed in the attack. The motives behind the killing could not be ascertained but it was the second murder in Kalat District related to a top political figure. On July21, Liquat Ali Mengal, an important leader of the Balochistan National Party and a central committee member of the Balochistan Farmers Association, was killed in the same district.

Angry supporters of Mir Khalid Langove, a member of the NP Central Committee whose younger brother was killed, rushed on the roads to vent their anger. They blocked the RCD National Highway in Kalat. As a result, hundreds of passenger buses, trucks, tankers and private vehicles were stranded on the roads late night on Saturday and early hours of Monday.

The National Party, while strongly condemning the killing of Mir Zaib Khan, has called for a complete shutter down strike in Kalat, Mastung and Quetta Districts for Sunday. The strike call has been backed by Balochistan National Party (BNP-Awami).
